This blog is to documenting our family recipes so that we don't loose any or have to call someone every year to get a recipe. This year I will be making and photographing all of our old classics and some of our new favorites. This project took on new meaning this year when we sadly lost our beloved Grandmother. My Grandma is the one who taught me to cook, and this blog is now dedicated in her loving memory.

Beginnings
I know it is only 4 days since Christmas of 2011, but I have just decided on what my Christmas gift to the family will be for 2012. While making Christmas cookies this last week I found myself needing to email my aunt for a recipe. This lead to my brilliant idea, we needed a family cookbook for all our favorite recipes! I was excited by the idea and glad I would have a year to get it done, seeing as how I would have to get everyone to give me a list of recipes they would want to see in the book and then to track down those recipes. The one thing I was a little bummed about was the cookbook wouldn't be a surprise, everyone would be expecting it. When I started looking up how exactly I was going to produce the cookbook I learned it was going to be pricey to do it the way I wanted. I want color photos of the food and maybe of it being prepared, because those are my favorite cookbooks. Then I had an awesome idea to spend the next year making and photographing the food for a blog! This blog will be the surprise ingredient for my gift (this is of course if I can keep my mouth shut for a year and the family doesn't stumble upon this site)!
